CORE Hosts Benefit In Los Angeles To Support Communities In Crisis Across The Globe

With support from Dodge and The Hollywood Reporter, the nonprofit organization showcased its vital work to strengthen vulnerable communities.

Leading into Oscars weekend, CORE Co-Founders Sean Penn and Ann Lee and CORE Board Member Bryan Lourd co-hosted the benefit, which drew attendees including Congressman Eric Swalwell, Dakota Johnson, Diplo, Garcelle Beauvais, Rachel Zoe, Rainn Wilson and Soleil Moon Frye, with special performances by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Cat Power and Leon Bridges.

LOS ANGELES – March 6 – CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) – the global humanitarian organization that is dedicated to empowering communities in and beyond crisis – held a private benefit on the evening of March 5 in Los Angeles. CORE Co-Founders Sean Penn and Ann Lee and CORE Board Member Bryan Lourd of CAA hosted the intimate evening. Drawing notables from entertainment, fashion, art, politics, tech and philanthropy, the event celebrated the power of community and honored and raised vital funds for vulnerable families around the world in need of humanitarian support.

Emceed by comedian Bill Burr, the evening featured electric performances by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Cat Power and Leon Bridges. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, seated dinner and a live auction.

Guests included film producer Bradley Thomas (Killers of the Flower Moon), Diplo, Dakota Johnson, author and historian Douglas Brinkley, Argentine filmmaker Fernando Sulichin (CORE Board Member), Garcelle Beauvais, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), music producer Max Martin, Rainn Wilson, Rachel Zoe, Soleil Moon Frye (CORE Board Member) and artist Umar Rashid.

Underscoring that humanitarian work should be a bipartisan priority, Penn was joined onstage by Congressman Eric Swalwell and former National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien.

Throughout the evening, guests received a powerful overview of CORE’s work, including the organization’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in Haiti, Ukraine, Pakistan, Sudan and the United States. These efforts span responding to emergencies, mitigating climate change’s impact and expanding health access to the most vulnerable communities.

The theme of the evening – and the north star of CORE’s work – is community. The organization’s community-powered approach is present in every initiative to empower vulnerable people around the world to be more resilient to crises. CORE has supported more than 10 million people across 27 regions and 5 continents, including 700,000+ impacted by the war in Ukraine. The organization also delivered 6.9M COVID-19 tests and 2.8M COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic.

CORE’s premier event sponsor Dodge generously joined the nonprofit in raising vital support for their humanitarian mission and officially revealed the Next-Gen Dodge Charger Daytona the day of the benefit.
