Samba Idrissa Sidibe

Director, Haiti

Samba Sidibe - CORE 2

After a short stint consulting for JP/HRO in 2018, Samba joined CORE to lead the implementation of our American Red Cross-funded economic recovery program in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian. His role evolved to include general oversight and management of CORE’s domestic operations in Washington D.C., Chicago, and North Carolina, in addition to Haiti and the Bahamas.

Today, as Director of Haiti, Samba oversees CORE’s diverse operations across Haiti. This includes longstanding programs like the School of Hope and Sunshine and Plezi Mizik program, our climate work with USAID BHA and CBF in the South, and vital emergency responses that support Haitians in times of crisis and beyond. In addition to maintaining these strategic donor partnerships and ensuring CORE’s adherence to government grants, Samba is in constant collaboration with CORE HQ’s Programs and Partnerships team to advise on local priorities, safety and security contexts, and more. He also leads the over 100 person staff based in Port-au-Prince and throughout the country. Our primarily locally led programs in Haiti greatly impact CORE’s ability to effectively execute complex and diverse initiatives amid often unstable contexts.

Samba has extensive experience in both the private and development sectors, having worked in various capacities for international non-profits based in the US, Haiti, and Mali. He is a well-rounded leader with technical skills in accounting, procurement, logistics, inventory, and financial management—as well as critical experience managing staff in insecure environments. He holds an MBA in Finance and a master’s in management.

“CORE was born in Haiti, and the country continues to be our beating heart through food security, WASH, education, music, and environmental programs.”
