Climate Resilience

Help empower communities around the world.

Your gift today strengthens CORE’s mission as we continue our commitment to responding quickly to crises and mitigating the impact of future climate disasters on our most vulnerable communities. Join in our fight as we work together to combat the biggest threat the world has ever faced to create a brighter and more equitable future.

As climate change continues to increase the catastrophic effects of extreme weather, marginalized and low-income communities are disproportionately impacted.

CORE recognizes that climate equity begins by addressing the intersection of disaster and social justice head on.

Since our early days, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) has been responding to some of the world’s worst climate disasters. As climate change continues to increase the catastrophic effects of extreme weather, we have seen firsthand the disproportionate devastation it is having on marginalized and low-income communities, who already are vulnerable to disasters due to systemic inequality.

CORE recognizes that climate equity begins by addressing the intersection of disaster and social justice. We leverage our experience and knowledge about sustainability, changing weather patterns, climate emergency monitoring, and financial and physical resources to support the most at-risk populations. Our goal is to help them mitigate, adapt, and prepare for the world’s new climate reality. CORE is committed to being on the front lines and working with communities to develop and strengthen climate resilience programs. We partner with local governments, NGOs, and community-based organizations, and financial service providers to help implement climate action plans, strategize, and amplify climate resilience activities by combining funds, resources, and people.

Our ongoing mission is to spread awareness and urgency not fueled by fear but knowledge that produces hope and fortitude. CORE recognizes the threats of climate change can only be addressed by pursuing common goals at both the community and global levels. The old saying, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” holds true as we work together to combat the biggest threat the world has ever faced.

Our Approach.

CORE is committed to being on the front lines and working with marginalized and low-income communities to develop and strengthen climate resilience programs. We partner with local governments, NGOs, and community-based organizations, and financial service providers to help implement climate action plans, strategize, and amplify climate resilience activities by combining funds, resources, and the inherent strengths of the communities we serve.

CORE’s goal is to help communities mitigate, adapt, and prepare for the ongoing and future impacts of climate change. Our ongoing mission is to develop practical solutions, propagate urgency, and spread awareness not fueled by fear but knowledge that produces hope and fortitude.

Our Work.

Often stemming from emergency responses, CORE has adapted to support critical projects that promote the environmental resilience of communities facing or repeatedly vulnerable to dire climate crises. Together with our partners, we have installed or improved critical infrastructure in homes and villages; provided local agricultural resources and education to community members; prepared emergency planning resources; delivered Cash and Voucher Assistance to reduce financial barriers to goods and services that strengthen community resilience; and implemented green infrastructure in shared community spaces.

CORE’s initiatives that address the effects of climate change have reached communities across the globe. Our work has ranged from promoting flood resilience in rural Pakistani villages and wildfire mitigation in California, to supporting local farmers and fishers in Haiti.
