Help communities in crisis in the U.S. and around the world.
There are so many humanitarian emergencies happening all over the globe today – it can feel overwhelming to know how to help. That’s why we created our annual Emergency Response Fund*, which supports the rapidly changing needs of communities in crisis, and our longer-term programs in North Carolina, California, Ukraine, Haiti, and Sudan.
As the climate crisis worsens, people worldwide must prepare to face more frequent and extreme weather events, such as powerful early-season hurricanes, once-in-a-generation floods, and devastating wildfires that increasingly affect major urban centers. CORE’s climate resilience program works with vulnerable communities to implement climate action plans and build readiness to aid resiliency. As we brace for more climate catastrophes, CORE’s Emergency Response Fund will power an estimated 12 emergency responses this year.
Your gift today allows our trained emergency response team to deploy – wherever and whenever disaster-stricken families need help the most. CORE’s emergency response services include disaster case management, home repairs, mobile medical teams, relocation support, cash and voucher assistance, and so much more.
*Note: At the close of the response, contributions for the Los Angeles Fires and Kentucky Floods will continue to create incredible impact and be reallocated to CORE’s Emergency Response Fund. If you have any questions about your gift or would like to cancel your recurring giving plan please reach out to us at [email protected].
WE ARE RESPONDING
KENTUCKY FLOODS
Severe thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain swept across Kentucky this week, resulting in widespread flooding. More than a dozen people were killed, many families have been forced from their homes, and there are still largescale power outages. And now, the battered state is facing a winter storm bringing freezing temperatures and snow. People in Kentucky urgently need support – and CORE is preparing to deploy.
Given our comprehensive response to the 2022 Kentucky floods, CORE is positioned to deploy vital resources and address the unique challenges affecting the region, where the most vulnerable are bearing the brunt of repeated climate disasters. Following the 2022 floods, we provided immediate assistance in the hardest-hit areas, removing dangerous debris and supplying critical resources such as food, water, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies. Our team stayed on through 2024, helping more than 1,000 families with disaster case management throughout the long journey to recovery.

LOS ANGELES FIRES
On January 7, 2025, several major wildfires, fueled by unprecedented winds and unseasonably dry conditions, erupted across the greater Los Angeles area. The largest were the Palisades Fire along the coast and the Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena. At one point, nearly 180,000 people were evacuated, and 350,000 lost power. More than 16,000 structures were destroyed – including homes, schools, and businesses. After burning for nearly a month, both fires have been 100% contained – but this devastating disaster has changed LA County forever.
CORE deployed an emergency response team on day 1 – and will continue to support families impacted by the fires over the years-long journey to recovery. We’ve already supported more than 30,000 people with vital relief supply distributions, cash assistance, and more.
WE ARE RESPONDING
HURRICANE HELENE
Hurricane Helene caused a 500-mile path of destruction spanning from Florida to North Carolina and estimated damages well over $100 billion.
With a history of extensive programming and emergency responses in Georgia and North Carolina, CORE deployed teams in Lowndes County, GA and Buncombe County, NC and have reached over 60,000 people and distributed nearly 230,000 critical resources including hygiene kits, tarps, drinking water, ready to eat meal kits, and other essential relief items.
CORE has expanded operations into Swannanoa, NC, where our local team is rehabilitating 21 mobile homes in the Alan Campos mobile home community.
Over the last 15 years, CORE has changed the lives of 12.8 million people and counting.
With a focus on equity, CORE continues to provide life-saving humanitarian support globally including areas of ongoing crises – like Haiti, Ukraine and Sudan – while drilling down on initiatives to support communities right here in the US, responding in Maui, Navajo Nation, & Kentucky. CORE’s domestic and international portfolio centers around Emergency Response & Preparedness; Addressing Climate Change; and Health Access.
Since March 2020, CORE has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, administering over 7 million tests and 3 million vaccinations across the country. The organization scaled exponentially to meet the unprecedented need and to fill gaps in the healthcare system in the US and beyond, resulting in countless lives saved.
