MIAMI – December 6, 2024CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) – the global humanitarian organization dedicated to empowering communities in and beyond crisis – held CORE Miami 2024, its fourth fundraiser during Art Basel Miami to benefit the nonprofit’s vital disaster relief efforts around the world. Raising more than $1 million, the benefit drew notables from entertainment, fashion, art, politics, tech and philanthropy to raise funds for CORE’s mission.

Throughout the evening, guests received a powerful overview of CORE’s global work, including the organization’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and Sudan amidst devastating conflicts, as well as disaster relief and preparedness in the Caribbean and coastal U.S. The gala raised funds to support CORE’s focus areas of responding to emergencies, mitigating climate change’s impact and expanding health access to the most vulnerable communities.

“I’m humbled and incredibly grateful for the support of our donors and partners who have gathered to celebrate CORE’s work, which is made possible through donations and grants,” said Lee. “While the benefit takes place during a fabulous week of art and culture, I am most excited about how this fundraiser will enable CORE to serve communities in crisis and work towards building a more equitable world. There was no question that our honoree this year should be the inimitable Mat Rosengart, and I cannot praise and thank him enough for what he has done for CORE. Outside of this event, I also want to thank the everyday heroes of our organization who work day in and day out – through conflict zones, natural disasters and more – to fulfill our mission.”

The evening’s festivities included cocktails by the beach with a set by DJ Mia Moretti, a seated dinner and a live auction helmed by Lydia Fenet that created a vibrant and memorable experience. Diplo opened the program with an introduction to Lee, and Garcelle Beauvais closed the evening. The event’s illustrious guest list included Leonardo DiCaprio, Carmelo Anthony, Alessandra Ambrosio, Soleil Moon Frye (CORE Board Member) and artists such as Dustin Yellin, Mr. Kaves and Chris Levine.

CORE honored one of the nation’s preeminent lawyers and a distinguished litigator in Hollywood, Mathew Rosengart, who is a partner at Greenberg Traurig and serves as CORE’s litigation counsel.

“I am deeply honored to represent and be recognized by CORE, an organization of passionate humanitarians whose impact has been an inspiration to me,” said Rosengart. “This is an organization that bravely heads into crises to support communities who need it most, particularly groups of people who are overlooked or underserved. I have witnessed CORE’s work firsthand – both in Haiti in 2018 and during the pandemic when they rapidly expanded to provide urgently needed free COVID-19 vaccinations and tests. My team at Greenberg Traurig and I proudly work to ensure CORE can fulfill its global mission, grounded in building strong local communities.”

The live auction featured an eclectic array of art from artists such as Astro and Max Hooper Schneider. British contemporary artist Chris Levine’s custom “Equanimity (CORE Gala), 2024” portrait of Queen Elizabeth adorned in real diamonds was auctioned for $100,000.

The evening concluded with an electric performance from GRAMMY nominated artist, Jewel who performed a medley of acoustic songs starting with a moving rendition of “Over the Rainbow,” followed by her hits “Who Will Save Your Soul” and “Hands.” Following the performance, she surprised the crowd by auctioning the guitar she played during her performance to further benefit CORE’s fundraising efforts.

“I’m honored to be part of this special evening and celebrate CORE’s work and impact, and I love performing to inspire others to join in supporting such a worthy cause. Since the early days when the organization’s work began in Haiti, I’ve been inspired by CORE’s mission to uplift, empower and strengthen vulnerable communities. My work with Inspiring Children Foundation shares CORE’s commitment to supporting children and families from all socio-economic backgrounds, which is essential for building resilient communities and enabling generations to thrive.”

The fundraiser was supported by Greenberg Traurig, Amazon MGM Studios, with The Hollywood Reporter serving as the official media partner of the event. The event co-chairs included Alessandra Ambrosio, Casey Affleck, Cecilia Renes, Craig Robins, Diplo, Francesca Giustra, Francisco Costa, Garcelle Beauvais, Jared Leto, Jon Bon Jovi, Jorge Perez, Michael Mann, Soleil Moon Frye and Vivi Nevo.
