Fueled By Local Hands: Chicago
Meet CORE’s team in Chicago, who since 2021 have provided vaccines to communities across the city.
Join us this World Refugee Day as we share powerful stories of strength, resilience, and courage from the people we proudly serve with your support.
Designated by the UN, World Refugee Day (June 20th) celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. World Refugee Day is an occasion to build empathy and understanding for their plight and recognize their resilience in rebuilding their lives.
At CORE, we believe everyone deserves safety from violence, the devastating effects of climate change and persecution. Our teams have been working to deliver lifesaving critical services to refugee families around the world. From Ukraine to Türkiye, our comprehensive shelter, emergency relief, health and wellness, and livelihood programs embody our commitment to meet the most urgent needs of refugees, migrants, and IDPs (internally displaced persons).
Why is World Refugee Day important?
At this very moment, the staggering number of people fleeing war, political upheaval, and environmental disaster is unmatched by any other period in human history. This year alone, 117.2 million people will be forcibly displaced or stateless. Often stuck in limbo struggling to access basic needs, refugees need vital humanitarian resources and interventions as they navigate unimaginable challenges.
How is Core helping ?
CORE is addressing the immediate and long-term needs of refugees around the world through the provision of emergency relief, shelter, health and wellness programs, and livelihoods support.
