Support communities impacted by the Los Angeles fires
In January 2025, several wildfires swept across Los Angeles County. The largest were the Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena, and the Palisades Fire along the coast. More than 16,000 structures were destroyed – including homes, schools, and businesses – leaving thousands of Angelenos without housing, jobs, or both. This is one of the worst disasters in California history, and it has changed our community forever.
In Phase 1 of our response, CORE focused on meeting people’s urgent needs and filling critical resource gaps. This included distributing items like hygiene kits, feminine products, and N95 masks; assisting with FEMA and other immediate aid applications; supplying wifi and power to local shelters; and providing cash support to people affected by the fires. We are now in Phase 2 of our response, addressing the long-term challenges as we work to rebuild. Our current efforts include:
– Cash Assistance: Distributing $10 million in direct support to the most vulnerable Angelenos
– Benefits Navigation & Disaster Case Management: Connecting people with local resources and helping them through the complex rebuilding process
– Debris Removal: Clearing multiple sites, including reservoirs in Altadena to help restore clean water access
– House Cleaning & Smoke Remediation: Providing expert cleaning services and hospital-grade air purifiers so people can safely return home
Note: At the close of the response, contributions for the Los Angeles Fires will continue to create incredible impact and be reallocated to CORE’s Climate Resiliency Program that focuses on wildfire mitigation and preparedness. If you have trouble processing your donation, questions about your gift, or would like to cancel your recurring giving plan, please reach out to us at [email protected].
Why Cash Assistance?
With your support, our goal is to give $10 million in cash assistance to Angelenos in need.
CORE is proud to be one of select organizations providing cash assistance as part of our response to the Los Angeles fires. Cash assistance gives power and flexibility back to the people actually impacted by disasters, so they have the freedom to prioritize their unique needs. It provides the dignity of choice, which can mean so much after losing everything. Learn more information about our cash assistance program for Angelenos impacted by the wildfires here.
Please Note: CORE will never ask for your social security number, bank account number, or medical cards when registering you for support. If anyone asks you for this information, we urge you to report them to the police.
